One of the most memorable meals we had in Italy or California was the “all you could eat” night at the Spyglass Inn, Shell Beach, San Luis Obispo. It was crab on the menu and not like we knew it. We don’t eat a lot of crab in New Zealand because the local crab is quite small.
Not so the US version, they’re meaty and sweet. It was just fabulous and a meal to remember. I would definitely do that again!

We had no problem assembling the gas BBQ in Italy but we could not get it to work because we didn’t have the connector hose. We stayed with Joan in San Luis Obispo and were invited to Doni & Tamis place for a weee BBQ and this is his stainless steel wonder. Charcoal is the heat source and it did a fantastic job (Doni is a pretty good bloody BBQ-chef too! That’s him on the left & Chris on the right)

So, I got all excited about the new iPhone 3G. A couple of the guys had the older iphones in Italy and they looked great and worked well too. So when I heard that the new ones were $US 199 I thought gee … that looks like a good idea. By the time they land in New Zealand they’ll be about $400/$500 – cool!
But I shoulda known better, whenever Vodafone say the price is $400 it means $400 on a 3 year plan @ $60 per month blah blah blah. I’ve been into Vodafone in town and they are NOT giving anything away either.
I’m over it already. I’ll stick with what I’ve got or maybe buy a Nokia N81/N95 that I can use with one hand.
We were getting settled in @ Joans place, had a few wines and admiring the view. James leant over the railing and his glasses fell off. Phil does the kiwi bloke thing climbs over and around, scramble through the undergrowth and amazingly finds James glasses up in one of the branches. But the real amazing story is that a week later Suzi is walking up the steps and spots a snake! Phil is out running up the hills a couple of days later and steps over a snake.
True story.

Our mission in Lake Como was to assemble the brand new gas BBQ for the wedding. The instructions were in English but we ignored them anyway! A 2 gas burner was the biggest the team could find. Maybe the Italians don’t BBQ like kiwis or maybe it was because the Italians couldn’t understand our kiwitalian
The funniest part was that it took a whole day to find somewhere that sold BBQs, 30 minutes to put it together and we never used it! We spent another whole day driving around trying to find somewhere to buy the hose goes from the gas bottle to the BBQ (and somewhere to fill the bottles with propane).
Never used it, not once!

Those of us who traveled with our Vodafone phones had no problems in any of the countries/cities that we visited. Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Milan, Lake Como, California the list goes on and on … unlike our Telecom enabled buddies who had no end of problems.
Bottom line … Telecom sucks (despite what their advertising says)

Just arrived here in Nesso, Lake Como. Our friends Chris & Megan are getting married here in Italy. We’re staying here at our friend Joans house. This is a photo of the house that we took last year. It hasn’t changed at all!

And neither has the view!
